All in 3 years...

Holding a newborn in my arms, I stare across the room at my beautiful daughter, playing away in her Minnie costume, or in her "Super Duck" cape and goggles, and I'm blown away.  From what I hold in my arms to this level of independence, creativity, and beauty - all in 3 short years.

Her birth story was so different from Megan's (Megan's will be coming soon...Kate's birthday comes first...) - so much scarier, so much to worry about.  (You can read it here, if you want!) We had waited 2.5 years to bring a baby home, and she was here at last.  No pressure, kid.

She's lived up to every dream we had about having a child.  She's beautiful, she's smart, she's HILARIOUS, and yeah, she's also stubborn, and 3 - and we welcome her - fits and all.

She amazes us every day.  She calls me Mama - a name I never asked her to call me, but she chose on her own(which Matt spells Momma, because she knows how to spell Mommy, and it makes it easier for her to spell :)).  She calls Matt "Da dad". She loves chocolate chip cookies, but not cake or cupcakes.  She loves chips and guacamole.  She loves to read and practice her letters.  She can write her name, Mom, Dad, and Grandma.  Like most kids, she loves TV and to play on her Momma's phone.

I sit and hold Megan, a newborn, and I can't believe how fast Kate's first 3 years have gone, and I wouldn't trade one moment of this time with our Peanut for all the money in the world.

Happy 3rd birthday, my beautiful Roo, my Kate.
